Three Quarters of a Circle in Warm Copper

Light reaches three quarters of the way round the LuxR Modux 2 PL3, thanks to its 270º flange, leaving just a small dark section behind. It is a small recessed low voltage path light. The brand states that the wash falls 5º below the flange lip and 10º above, so it can light a wall surface or work as a path light wayfinder.

Copper That Mellows Outdoors

Precision machined from copper, this version starts bright and warm, then slowly mellows into a soft natural patina outdoors. Each fitting gradually takes on its own character and settles into the planting. A 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus keeps plants and stonework true to colour. A 270º flange in copper suits spots where the warm tone of copper settles in next to brick, timber and planting.

Choose Your Options

• Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
• Flange angle: each flange angle is sold as its own listing. The PL range comes in 90º, 180º, 2x90º opposite, 270º and 360º, in copper or stainless steel.

How It Works

The fitting recesses into a 43.5mm cut out. It is supplied with 1m of H05RN-F cable and runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.

Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

Choose this one for wide coverage with one side kept dark. It is a good fit for walls, edges and borders where the warm tone of copper settles in next to brick, timber and planting. If you need a different size, the same design is also available in the Micro and M4.

Questions People Ask

What size hole does the PL3 path light need?

It needs a 43.5mm cut out, and the flange has an 11mm depth. It is supplied with 1m of cable.

Does it come with a driver?

No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered NICEIC electrician installs it.

Which flange angle should I choose?

The 270º flange (PL3) lights three quarters of a circle and leaves one quarter dark. The other options are 90º (one quarter), 180º (half), 2x90º opposite and 360º (all the way round).

Will the copper change colour?

Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish softens and darkens gradually. This is normal and is part of its appeal.

Can I change the LED or beam later?

Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
