A Larger Copper Square Recessed Spotlight
The LuxR Modux 2 Large Square Recessed is a small low voltage recessed spotlight with a square flange measuring 61mm across the flats, compared with 53mm for the regular M2 square recessed. That extra width is useful when the mounting hole is generous or when hole coverage is a priority.
Copper That Ages Naturally
This version is made from copper and bronze. It starts out warm and bright, then develops a natural patina outdoors, so the square flange mellows against timber, brick or stone. The light source is a 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, and the fitting is rated IP68.
Choose Your Beam, Colour and Lens
- Beam: 26º is a narrow beam for picking out a feature, 36º is a medium beam, and 74º is a wide beam for a broader wash.
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
- Lens: clear gives the sharpest beam, while frosted softens the edges of the light.
How It Works
The recessed body is 41mm in diameter and 62mm long, and sits in a 43.5mm cut out, with the larger square flange covering the edge of the hole. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it in timber decking, brick walls and steps where a squared off look suits the design. It is also available in M4.

How big is the large square recessed?
The flange is 61mm across the flats, compared with 53mm for the regular M2 square recessed. The cut out is 43.5mm.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
Will the copper change colour?
Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish will soften and darken gradually. This is normal and is part of its appeal.
Which beam angle should I choose?
Choose 26º for a tight beam on one feature, 36º for a medium spread, and 74º for a wide wash across a larger area.
Can I change the LED later?
Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
