A Larger Copper Louvre Recessed Wash Light

The LuxR Modux 2 Large Louvre Recessed is a small low voltage recessed light that gives an attractive wash of light. It has a distance across the flats of 61mm, compared with 53mm for the regular M2 louvre, which is useful when the mounting hole is generous or when hole coverage is a priority.

Copper That Ages Naturally

This version is made from copper and bronze. Copper looks very much at home recessed into timber, and it develops a natural patina outdoors, so the flange softens and darkens with age. The light source is a 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, and the fitting is rated IP68.

Choose Your Colour Temperature

• Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow that suits timber, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.

How It Works

The recessed body is 41mm in diameter and 69mm long, and sits in a 43.5mm cut out, with the larger flange covering the edge of the hole. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.

Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

Use it in decking, timber cladding, steps and walls where you want a soft wash of light and a flange that hides a rough cut. It is also available in M4.

Does it come with a driver?

No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.

Will the copper change colour?

Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish will soften and darken gradually. This is normal and is part of its appeal.

Which colour temperature should I choose?

Choose 2200K or 2700K for a warm, relaxed feel against timber, and 3000K or 4000K if you prefer a cleaner, whiter light.

Can I change the LED later?
