The Smallest Pole Spot, for Gentle Garden Accents
The LuxR Modux 1 Pole Spot is the most compact fitting in the Modux pole spot range. The head is only 30.95mm across and sits on a 400mm pole, so it all but disappears in a border while it adds a quiet pool of light to a shrub, a pot or a piece of sculpture. The head adjusts, so you can aim the light exactly where you want it.
316 Stainless Steel for Outdoor Use
This version is made in 316 stainless steel, a marine grade metal chosen for outdoor fittings. The ribbed head and plain pole have a clean, silver look that suits modern planting and paving. The light source is a pin mounted 1 watt Cree LED, which the brand states delivers around 80 lumens. That is a gentle output, ideal for subtle accent lighting rather than floodlighting.
Choose Your Beam, Colour and Lens
- Beam: 15º is a very narrow, long reach beam, 30º is a tight spot for a single feature, 53º is a wider cone for a small shrub or group of plants, and the oval beam stretches light sideways across a low wall or a row of planting.
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
- Lens: clear glass gives the sharpest beam, and frosted glass softens its edges.
How It Works
Push the pole into the soil and tilt the head towards your subject. The fitting runs on low voltage from a 350mA constant current driver, which is sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. The LED can be replaced later, so you can change the colour or the beam without buying a new fitting.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it for smaller scale lighting: ferns and grasses, a patio pot, a small tree trunk or a statue on a lawn. Where you need more output, the Modux 2 and Modux 4 pole spots use the same style of pole with a more powerful LED. We can also supply longer poles, so please contact us to discuss the length you need.

Questions People Ask
How bright is the M1 pole spot?
It uses a 1 watt LED that the brand states gives around 80 lumens. That suits subtle accent lighting. The M2 gives around 180 lumens and the M4 around 360 lumens.
Which beam angle should I choose?
Choose 15º for a very narrow, long reach beam, 30º to pick out one feature, 53º for a small shrub or a group of plants, and the oval beam to wash light along a low wall or hedge.
Does the M1 pole spot come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting that needs a suitable 350mA constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
How tall is the M1 pole spot?
The pole is 400mm long and the whole fitting measures 482.7mm from the tip of the spike to the top of the head. How much shows above ground depends on how deep you push it into the soil.
Can I get a longer pole?
Yes. We can supply longer poles, so please contact us with the length you need.
Can I change the LED later?
Yes. The 1 watt Cree LED can be replaced, so the colour or beam can be changed without a new fitting.
