Leverint Waterloo Sealed Wall Light

A Teardrop of Hand Blown Glass on a Curved Arm

The Waterloo Sealed Wall Light hangs a pointed, teardrop shaped glass shade from a plated metal arm that curves out from a round backplate. Leverint describes its glow as dewy and luxurious, and rates the light at IP44, which it says suits zones 2 and 3 in bathrooms. The shade is 140mm wide and 190mm tall, and the whole fitting stands 300mm tall with a 170mm projection from the wall, so it has a bit more presence than a small sconce.

Choose Your Finish

Each light is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen from the swatches and dropdowns above on this page when you order. The photos show the shade in ribbed, fine ribbed and opaque white glass, as well as the ribbed twist and fine ribbed twist textures, which are available as an upgrade and wrap the ribs in a spiral around the teardrop. Leverint plates the arm and backplate in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze, polished nickel or satin nickel, so you can match it to your taps and other bathroom metalwork. Because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, the colour and texture of your light may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. If you are unsure about a finish before ordering, please call our customer service team.

How It Works

The light takes one G9 bulb, 4W maximum, according to Leverint's technical sheet. It is not supplied with a bulb as standard, but you can add Leverint's G9 LED filament bulb from the dropdown above, or choose no bulb and fit your own. Leverint lists the fitting as mains dimmable, so it can be dimmed when it is wired to a compatible dimmer switch and fitted with a dimmable bulb. The arm projects 170mm from the wall. This is a hardwired fitting, and we recommend having it installed by a qualified electrician, ideally NICEIC registered.

Leverint rates this light at IP44. For more on where IP44 fittings can go, see our guide to bathroom lighting zones.

Where It Works Best

The IP44 rating makes it a natural choice beside a bathroom mirror, and the rounded teardrop shade softens tiled walls. It also works well in a living room, a bedroom or a home office, where Leverint suggests relaxed, comfortable lighting. Try a pair either side of a mirror or a bed for symmetry, or a single light on a landing wall. The ribbed glass options give a more textured glow, while opaque white gives a soft, even light.

Made By Leverint

Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where each piece of glass is shaped by hand rather than cast in a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons. A tapering teardrop shape like the Waterloo's needs the glass to be shaped evenly from the wide shoulder down to the point, which is where blowing by hand counts.
