Two Glass Domes Stacked Into One Clean Form

The Oxford Table Lamp is built from two hand blown glass half spheres, set one above the other and held in a single plated metal frame. A slim metal stem runs down through the centre, a narrow collar sits between the two domes, and the whole thing rests on a small disc base. The result reads as one rounded glass body with a fine line of metal through it, simple enough to sit quietly on a bedside table and sculptural enough to be noticed on a console. Please note that the fabric shade shown in the photos is not included, so you can pair the base with a shade of your own choosing.

Choose Your Glass and Metal Finish

Each lamp is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen from the swatches above when you order. The main photo shows the glass in transparent black on dark plated metalwork, and the other images show the same base in clear, ribbed, fine ribbed and opaque white glass. Leverint plates the metalwork in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze, polished nickel or satin nickel, so you can match it to the rest of your scheme. Because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, the colour and texture of your lamp may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. How It Works

The lamp takes one E27 bulb. It is not supplied with one as standard, but you can add Leverint's T45 LED filament bulb from the dropdown above, or choose no bulb and fit your own. Leverint lists a 40W maximum on its technical sheet and recommends a low wattage LED filament bulb, which is the sensible choice inside glass. It is supplied with 1.5 metres of round silk covered flex and an inline switch, so there is nothing to install: unpack it, add a bulb and a shade, and plug it in. The standard inline switch is on and off only. Leverint can fit a dimmer switch instead on request, so please ask before ordering if you want one. If you ever want the lamp rewired or connected to anything other than the supplied switch, have that work carried out by a qualified electrician.

Where It Works Best

At 278mm to the top of the lamp holder, with a 200mm wide glass body, this is a compact table lamp rather than a statement floor standing piece. It suits a bedside table, a hallway console, a home office desk or a side table in the living room, where its rounded glass shape softens straight edged furniture. A pair on matching bedside tables works especially well, and the clear or ribbed glass options let light from the bulb catch in the domes as well as glow through the shade above.

Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where each piece of glass is shaped by hand rather than cast in a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons, and its founders bring decades of lighting design and glass artistry to every lamp. The Oxford's two matched domes are a good example of that skill: blowing two half spheres that sit flush against one another is far harder than it looks.

No. The Leverint Oxford Table Lamp is sold as a base only, and the grey drum shade shown in the photos is not included. It has a standard E27 lamp holder, so a drum or empire shade of your own choice can be fitted to it.
