The Charlton Small Sealed pairs a slim metal arm with a sealed, ribbed glass shade shaped like a rounded capsule. Because the shade is sealed rather than open ended, the light it throws is softer and more diffused than an open bulb fitting, giving it a calmer, more ambient glow.

The Charlton Small Sealed ships in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen when you order. These photos show it in clear ribbed glass on a polished brass arm, but Leverint blows the same shade in fine ribbed, opaque and twisted textures too, and plates the arm in tones from brass and bronze through to nickel, so you can match it to the rest of your scheme.

How It Works

The Charlton Small Sealed takes a single G9 bulb, up to 4W, which is not included, and projects 150mm from the wall on its curved arm. It's mains dimmable, so it will pair with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulb if you want to bring the light down low. The shade is fully sealed, which is what gives it an IP44 rating. As with any hardwired wall light, installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Where It Works Best

Being rated IP44 for zones 2 and 3, the Charlton Small Sealed works well beside a bathroom mirror or over a vanity unit as well as in hallways, bedrooms and living rooms. Leverint hand blows every shade at its studio in Enfield, London rather than casting it from a mould. According to Leverint, the studio draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, and decades of combined design experience from its founders. That hand finished process means the ribbing on each Charlton shade catches the light slightly differently piece to piece.
