The floor standing version of Carronade II brings Markus Johansson's cannon inspired barrel shape down to eye level on a slim stand, in either smoked oak or black oak.

How it works

It has a 45cm diameter shade on an E27 fitting with a maximum recommended 20W LED (bulb not included), and runs from a flat, black, 240cm mains cable to a plug, so no ceiling wiring is needed.

Where it works best

Its directional head suits a reading chair, a corner that needs a warm accent light, or as a sculptural piece in its own right when not in use.

Le Klint's Design Workshop

Folded by hand since 1900

Hand pleated paper lighting is what put Le Klint on the map, a technique P.V. Jensen-Klint began around 1900 by folding a paper shade for a petroleum lamp in a style borrowed from Japanese origami. His son Tage Klint turned the family craft into a proper company in 1943, and Esben Klint's 1942 Model 107 is still one of its most recognisable pleated designs. The same Odense workshop still folds shades by hand today; it takes a new folder roughly a year to learn the technique, and two to three years more to master it fully.

A different material story

The 362 floor lamp doesn't use that pleated paper technique at all. Its barrel shaped head is aluminium and stainless steel finished with an oak strap, one of several designer collaborations Le Klint has produced alongside its original pleating craft over the years.
