Hunza Pure LED Step Light Solid Eyelid Square - Powder Coat - Low Voltage

A square edged eyelid step light in powder coated aluminium, with Hunza's integrated Pure LED engine

This is the Pure LED version of Hunza's square hood eyelid step light. Rather than a separate MR16 or GU10 lamp, it has Hunza's own Cree LED chip built in, still shielded from view behind the same solid metal eyelid hood that sends light down onto the step or path below. The square backplate gives it a crisper line than the round flange used on the standard Solid Eyelid.

The flange and eyelid are cast aluminium with a weatherproof powder coat finish, shown here in black. Hunza also offers this fitting in white, dark grey, silver, olive green, brown and bronze powder coat, so it can be matched to render, brick or timber. Treat the colour swatch as a guide only. Moonlight Design can supply a physical sample on request before you order.

How It Works

• The square flange is 88mm wide and 7mm deep, over a recessed body 63.5mm in diameter and 68.5mm long, needing a 63.5mm cut out. Supplied with a 1m cable.
• The eyelid projects 25mm and masks around two thirds of the lamp face, throwing light down and forward across the step.
• The Cree LED chip runs at 600 lumens (6 watts) with a colour rendering index of 90+, and is genuinely user serviceable rather than sealed for life.
• It carries an IP67 rating, a step up from the IP66 rating on Hunza's standard halogen ready and GU10 versions of this fitting.
• Pure LED fittings are wired in series and need a remote LED driver rather than a transformer, sold separately. It's dimmable if a suitable dimmable driver is used.
• This fitting can be specified with a choice of colour temperature (2200K, 2700K, 3000K or 4000K) and beam angle (15°, 25°, 38° or 60°) at the time of order.
• The same fitting is also available with a conventional replaceable MR16 low voltage lamp or a GU10 mains lamp. The round flange Solid Eyelid is also available in powder coat, if you'd prefer that profile.

• Steps, stair risers and retaining walls where a long life, low maintenance light source is preferred to a replaceable lamp.
• Projects where the fitting needs to blend into painted or rendered brick rather than stand out in bare metal.
• Marking any change in level safely, from a single step to a full staircase.
• Schemes already using Hunza's Pure LED range elsewhere, for consistent colour temperature and light quality throughout.

They show the round profile Hunza eyelid step light rather than this square hood Pure LED version, since we don't yet have our own square hood installation shots. The fixing and light output are the same across both profiles, so they're still a fair guide to how this style of fitting looks once it's recessed and lit at night.

Is this dimmable?
Yes, if it's run from a suitable dimmable LED driver. It won't dim on a standard transformer.

What colour temperature does it come in?
You can specify 2200K, 2700K, 3000K or 4000K at the time of order, with a choice of 15°, 25°, 38° or 60° beam angle.

Can I replace the lamp myself if it fails?
The Cree chip is serviceable rather than sealed for life, but replacement is a job for a qualified electrician since the fitting needs to come out of its recess.
