A Square Step Light That Never Needs a New Bulb
The Pure LED Step Light Louvre Square shares the same square flange and horizontal louvre slats as the standard version, spreading light sideways in a wide, even wash rather than a single beam. What sets it apart is that Hunza's Pure LED chip is built into the fitting, so there is no separate MR16 lamp to source or replace over its lifetime.
Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel
This version is made from solid 316 stainless steel, the marine grade metal Hunza reserve for fittings that need to resist corrosion without changing colour. It keeps a consistent satin finish rather than developing a patina, though an occasional wash is recommended since stainless steel can pick up surface tarnish in some environments. A small H mark is pressed into the face.
How It Works
- Fixed, non adjustable louvre slats spread light sideways across the fitting's face rather than in a single beam.
- Recessed body 63.5mm in diameter and 68.5mm long, behind an 88mm square flange just 7mm deep, with 1m of cable supplied.
- Cut out size is 63.5mm.
- Built around a replaceable Cree LED chip rated at 600 lumens (6 watts), CRI 90 or above at 3000K, wired in series with a remote Hunza LED driver, sold separately, rather than a transformer.
- Dimmable if used with a suitable dimmable driver.
- The Pure LED range offers a choice of colour temperature from 2200K to 4000K and beam angles from 15 to 60 degrees, so let us know if you need a particular spread or colour of light.
- Rated IP67, higher than the IP66 of the standard version, with a 10 year warranty on the fitting and 5 years on the LED.
- The standard low voltage and GU10 mains versions of the Step Light Louvre Square are both available in the same stainless steel finish, if you would rather use a replaceable lamp.

To be fair to what they actually show, they capture the general louvred wash effect on real stone steps rather than this exact square, stainless steel, Pure LED fitting close up, since we do not yet have installation photos of the square profile on site. The even, sideways spread of light across each tread is genuinely what this fitting produces.

Questions People Ask
Does this fitting take a normal bulb?
No. It has a Cree LED chip built into the fitting, so there is no separate lamp to buy or replace, unlike the standard low voltage version.
How does the square version compare to the round Step Light Louvre?
Both spread light the same way, sideways in a wide wash. This square version has an 88mm square flange for a crisper, more architectural line, while the round version suits softer settings.
Can this fitting be dimmed?
Yes, provided a suitable dimmable driver is used. Without one it runs at a fixed brightness.
Does the stainless steel finish need maintenance?
An occasional wash is enough. Hunza note 316 stainless steel can develop surface tarnish in some environments, and washing helps prevent it.
