One wide window instead of two separate beams
The Hunza Pure LED Path Light Surface Mount 2 Facet 180º is a small ground light with two lenses set side by side inside a single wide cutout, so the light spreads across roughly 180 degrees on one side of the fitting rather than firing in two narrow directions. Looking at it from the front, both lenses sit together in one continuous window, which is what tells it apart from the 2 Facet Opposites version in this range, where the two windows sit on opposite edges instead. It screws straight onto the surface, with no need to core a recess into the ground first.
Natural copper, left to age outdoors
This version is made in solid copper, not a copper effect coating. Copper is one of Hunza's two solid metal finishes, alongside stainless steel, and it is designed to weather naturally outdoors. Over time the bright, freshly polished copper shown in the studio photography above will darken and develop a patina, the same way copper guttering or roofing does outside. That is expected and does not affect performance, it is simply part of choosing a natural metal finish rather than a painted one.
How It Works
- Surface mounted base, 88mm in diameter and 32mm high, fixed with screws directly to decking, paving or a hard surface rather than recessed into a cut hole
- Domed copper flange and lens head on top, 88mm in diameter and 20mm high, with two lenses set together in one wide window spanning roughly 180 degrees
- Each lens is a custom TIR borosilicate glass design, shaped to shed dirt, mud and water rather than trap it
- Integrated, replaceable Cree LED chip, rated at 120 lumens (700mA, 2 watts), with a colour rendering index of 90+
- Supplied with a 1 metre output cable
- Low voltage, and must be wired in series with a remote driver rather than run from a simple plug in transformer
- Dimmable if paired with a suitable dimmable driver
- IP66 rated against dust and jetting water
- 10 year guarantee on the fitting, 5 years on the LED
Where It Works Best
Because it sits on the surface rather than inside it, this is the fitting to reach for on decking, block paving, natural stone or any hard surface where cutting a recess is not practical. The wide 180 degree spread suits lighting along one continuous edge, such as the length of a step nosing or the side of a raised bed, where an unbroken wash of light on one side is more useful than two separate beams pointing apart.
Our own installations
The wider photographs on this page, showing driveways, paths and courtyards picked out at night, are Moonlight Design's own designs and installations. They are not stock imagery. We use them to show the kind of effect a run of Hunza path lights can create along a drive or path edge, rather than to show this exact surface mounted, 2 facet fitting in close up. None of these photographs show the copper finish specifically, so please treat the studio photography above as the accurate guide to colour and material.
Good to Know
- Usually ships within 2 to 3 days. If out of stock, allow 3 to 5 weeks
- 14 day returns if the light is unused, uninstalled and in its original packaging
- The LED chip is integrated and replaceable, there is no separate bulb to buy
- Needs a remote low voltage driver wired in series, check what driver capacity is already available on the circuit before ordering
- We recommend having all outdoor lighting installed by a registered NICEIC electrician
- Copper is a natural finish and will patina with weathering, this is expected and not a fault
Questions People Ask
Why choose a surface mounted path light instead of a recessed one?
A surface mounted fitting like this one is fixed straight to the top of decking, paving or any hard surface with screws, so there is no need to core a hole or set a housing into the ground during construction. That makes it a practical choice for an existing patio or deck where digging in a recessed light is not realistic.
What is the difference between 2 Facet 180º and 2 Facet Opposites?
Both have two lenses, but they sit in different places. On this 180º version the two lenses share one wide window on a single side of the fitting, giving a continuous spread of light across roughly 180 degrees. On the Opposites version the two windows sit on directly opposite edges of the fitting instead, throwing two separate beams away from each other. Choose 180º for a wide wash along one line, and Opposites for two distinct beams in different directions.
Will the copper finish look the same in a year?
No, and that is by design. Solid copper is a natural finish that darkens and develops a patina outdoors, similar to copper guttering. It is not a fault or a coating wearing off.
Does this light need a transformer?
It needs a compatible remote LED driver rather than a standard low voltage transformer, wired in series rather than in parallel. An electrician can confirm what is already available on your circuit.
