A driveway light with the lamp built in, not bolted on
The Hunza Pure LED Driveway Light in solid bronze takes the same flush mounted, drive over uplighter that Hunza have built for years and replaces the retrofit MR16 lamp with a sealed, integrated LED module. There is no separate lamp to buy or swap, the light source and the fitting are engineered as one piece, calibrated by Hunza for consistent colour and output over a long service life.
The solid bronze finish
The visible flange is machined from a 150mm bar of solid bronze and fixed with three stainless steel anti vandal screws. Left outdoors, it will darken gradually and develop a natural patina, ageing rather than deteriorating. Below ground, the body of the fitting is cast from a corrosion resistant aluminium alloy, double powder coated in black for UV resistance, which is Hunza's standard construction across the whole Driveway Lite range including the Pure LED version. Hunza back the bronze flange with a 10 year warranty and the aluminium body with a 5 year warranty, reflecting the different jobs the two materials are doing.
How It Works
The canister measures 110mm in diameter and 145mm in length, with a 149mm diameter flange sitting 18mm proud, and a 110mm cut out is needed in the surface you are recessing it into. It arrives with a 1m cable, wired in series, and the integrated Cree LED chip is available in beam angles of 15, 25, 38 or 60 degrees and colour temperatures of 2200K, 2700K, 3000K or 4000K, chosen when you order rather than swapped afterwards. Output is 600 lumens at 1050mA, drawing 6 watts, with a colour rendering index of 90 or above at 3000K. The fitting is dimmable if paired with a suitable dimmable driver, and because it is wired in series you will need a remote constant current driver sized to your circuit, sold separately. The electronics carry a 5 year warranty and the LED chip board is field replaceable rather than disposable if it ever needs attention. Because there is no lamp to swap, this rating is IP68, though Hunza are clear it is not intended for use in pools or ponds. If you would rather have a lamp you can replace yourself, the standard MR16 low voltage version of this driveway light is also available.
Where It Works Best
This is a driveway and entrance light for anyone who wants the consistency of an integrated LED without ever thinking about lamp replacement again. Recessed along a drive or across an entrance court, it throws a precise, colour accurate beam upward onto a tree, a stone pillar, a garden wall or a house facade. It carries the same 1500kg, 10km/h drive over rating as the rest of the range, so gravel turning circles and parking areas are well within its scope too.
Our experience with Hunza
We have specified Hunza fittings in our garden lighting schemes since 2003, and the driveway light in all its forms is one we return to again and again on projects with vehicle access to light. The photographs on this page, the lit gate, the avenue of uplit trees and the magnolia archway, are our own, taken on real schemes we designed and installed, not stock imagery. That practical experience of how these fittings behave once buried in gravel or set into stone is what shapes what we recommend, including which version of the driveway light suits a given project.

Questions People Ask
Can I replace the LED myself later on?
The LED chip board is field replaceable by an electrician if it is ever needed, though with a 5 year electronics warranty and the quality of the Cree chip used, this is not something most owners will need to think about for a long time.
Is the whole fitting solid bronze?
No. The visible flange is solid bronze bar, fixed to a body cast from black powder coated aluminium alloy. This is standard construction across Hunza's Driveway Lite range, including the Pure LED version.
Does it come with a driver?
No. This version is wired in series and needs a separate remote constant current driver, sized to the number of fittings on your circuit.
Can I choose the colour temperature later?
No. The colour temperature and beam angle are set at the point of order and are not user adjustable afterwards, so choose the combination that suits your scheme before ordering.
Is this suitable for a pond or pool edge?
No. Although it carries an IP68 rating, Hunza specifically state it is not intended for use in pools or ponds.
