A powder coated lawn light with seven finish options
The Hunza Lawn Light in powder coat sits flush in turf and throws a narrow column of light straight up rather than spreading sideways. It runs on low voltage, and the powder coated aluminium body means you can match or contrast it with paving, planting or brickwork rather than being limited to a metal tone.
Powder coated aluminium, several colours
The whole fitting, flange included, is powder coated aluminium rather than bronze or steel. Hunza offers this finish in black, white, grey, silver, green, brown and bronze, with swatches available on request since colours on screen are only ever a guide. It's a lighter duty finish than the bronze or stainless versions: the powder coat will chip if the fitting is regularly mown over, or if the ground has high soil acidity, salt content or heavy fertiliser use.
How it works
The head directs light up to 20 degrees off vertical, enough to angle the beam toward a nearby tree or shrub rather than straight up. A flush fit lens sits level with the lawn surface to stop water and dirt pooling on the glass. The recessed body is 96mm in diameter and 86mm long, set into a 152mm flange with a matching 96mm cut out, and it's supplied with 1m of cable.
It isn't supplied with a bulb, and to keep the IP rating and warranty valid, it must be run with a Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp. Being low voltage, it also needs a transformer, sold separately, wired in parallel with the rest of the circuit. The same fixture is also available as a GU10 mains version if you'd rather skip the transformer.
Where it works best
Suited to borders, beds and lightly used lawn areas where colour matching matters more than resistance to mowing or salt. If the area is regularly mown, or the soil is acidic, salty or heavily fertilised, the solid bronze, cast solid bronze or stainless steel versions of this light will hold up better.
Our experience with Hunza
Moonlight Design has specified Hunza Lawn Lights since we were founded in 2003, and we regularly recommend this powder coated version when a client wants the fitting to disappear into a colour scheme rather than stand out as bronze or steel.
Good to know
- Made to order: usually ships within 2 to 3 days. If temporarily out of stock, allow 3 to 5 weeks.
- Returns: this fitting can be returned within 14 days of delivery if unused, uninstalled and in original packaging.
- Not supplied with a bulb. A Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp is required to keep the IP rating and warranty valid.
- Requires a transformer, sold separately, as this is a low voltage fitting.
- Available in black, white, grey, silver, green, brown or bronze powder coat; swatches available on request.
- If the area is mown over, or has high soil acidity, salt content or fertiliser, choose the solid bronze, cast solid bronze or stainless steel version instead.
- We recommend installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
What colours does this come in?
Black, white, grey, silver, green, brown and bronze powder coat. Swatches are available on request since screen colours are only a guide.
Can this be mown over?
Not reliably. The powder coat finish will chip if it's regularly mown over or if the ground has high soil acidity, salt content or heavy fertiliser use. The solid bronze, cast solid bronze or stainless steel versions are the better choice in that situation.
Does it come with a bulb?
No. It takes a Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp, bought separately, which is required to keep the IP rating and warranty valid.
What's the warranty on this finish?
Five years, which is shorter than the ten year warranty on the bronze and stainless steel versions of this light.
Is there a mains version?
Yes, the same fixture is available as a GU10 mains version for installations where you'd rather not run a transformer.
