Taunton is a single arm wall light from Hudson Valley Lighting built around a crisp, square shaped linen shade, its stepped detailing and clean right angles giving the fitting a tailored, almost geometric quality. It's a straightforward silhouette made distinctive by the quality of its finish and the texture of its shade.

Polished nickel finish with a linen shade

The frame and backplate are finished in polished nickel, a bright, reflective metal tone that reads well against cool greys, whites and contemporary schemes. The shade itself is linen fabric stretched over a steel frame, softening and diffusing the light rather than letting it read as a bare point source.

How it works

Taunton takes a single E14 bulb rated up to 60W (not supplied), positioned inside the linen shade for an even, gentle glow. It measures around 43.8cm in height and 11.4cm in width, projecting about 12.7cm from the wall, and weighs 1.4kg. As a mains wired fitting, installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

It suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways where a soft accent light is wanted rather than a primary source, for example either side of a mirror or headboard, or spaced along a hallway wall. The polished nickel finish and linen shade sit comfortably in contemporary and transitional interiors built around cooler metal tones.
