A tungsten style filament bulb held tight against ribbed glass

Sperry takes its cue from a stripped back, almost industrial reading of Manhattan minimalism, holding a long, slender bulb against a rectangular backplate and behind a sleeve of ribbed glass. The closely spaced lines of the glass and the visible bulb inside create a quiet tension between engineering and design that's more common in commercial fittings than domestic ones.

The backplate and fittings are finished in old bronze, a warm, deliberately aged metal tone that reads well against dark paint, panelling and traditional joinery. The glass sleeve is ribbed, adding texture and a slight softening to the light without hiding the bulb inside completely.

How it works

Sperry takes a single E27 bulb rated up to 40W (not supplied), ideally a long tubular filament style bulb to suit the fitting's proportions. It measures around 32.4cm in height and 7.6cm in width, projecting about 10.2cm from the wall, and weighs 1.9kg. As a mains wired fitting, installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

It's designed for kitchens and dining rooms, for example flanking a range, above open shelving, or spaced along a dining wall where a slim, vertical accent is wanted. Its pared back, linear form suits contemporary and industrial leaning interiors as readily as more traditional ones.
