Montgomery is a table lamp from Hudson Valley Lighting built almost entirely from alabaster, with a sculpted disc and sphere detail sitting just below a simple linen drum shade. Aged brass fittings run through the base, giving a small note of colour and warmth against the pale stone.

The base is genuine alabaster, a natural stone that varies slightly in colour and veining from piece to piece, so expect the tone of your lamp to differ a little from the images shown and from any other Montgomery lamp you compare it to. The aged brass fittings sit at the neck and base, and the drum shade above is made from Belgian linen, softening the light from the bulb inside.

How it works

Montgomery takes a single E27 bulb, maximum 75W (not supplied), diffused through the linen shade for a warm, ambient glow rather than a bright, direct light. It measures around 30cm in height and 35cm in diameter, and runs on a cord rather than needing to be wired into the mains, so it simply plugs into a standard socket.

Where it works best

It suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways as a bedside or side table lamp, wherever a softer, warmer light is wanted alongside the main room lighting. Its alabaster base and linen shade sit well in traditional and transitional interiors built around natural materials.
