Hudson Valley Fredonia 1 Light Wall Sconce Light - Polished Nickel

An oversized arm and shade, with a torch like sense of scale

Fredonia reworks the traditional wall mounted torch into a simpler, more minimal wall light, standing out through its generous size rather than heavy ornamentation. A stepped metal backplate supports a long arm that ends in a diagonal cut, exposing a diamond shaped cross section of the metal at its tip, beneath a deliberately oversized shade.

Polished nickel finish with a faux silk shade

The backplate and arm are finished in polished nickel, a bright, reflective metal tone that suits cooler, more contemporary colour schemes. The shade above is faux silk, chosen for its smooth sheen, which balances the scale and simplicity of the metal arm below.

How it works

Fredonia takes a single E14 bulb rated up to 40W (not supplied), positioned within the faux silk shade at the top of the arm. It measures around 57.8cm in height and 14cm in width, projecting about 9.5cm from the wall, and weighs 1kg. As a mains wired fitting, installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

It suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways where a taller, more architectural wall light is wanted, for example either side of a fireplace or headboard, or as a pair flanking a wide mirror. Its scale and pared back detailing suit contemporary and transitional interiors built around cooler metal tones.
