Hudson Valley Dooley 1 Light Wall Sconce Light - Polished Nickel

A classic sconce shape updated with a linen shade

Dooley takes a traditional wall light silhouette, a shade projecting from a rectangular backplate, and updates it with a Belgian linen shade in place of glass or metal. The result is a softer, more contemporary reading of a familiar form.

Polished nickel finish with a linen shade

The backplate is finished in polished nickel, a cool, reflective metal tone that suits contemporary and transitional rooms alike. The shade is genuine linen, so its surface will carry the small natural variation in texture and tone typical of a fabric material.

How it works

It takes a single E14 bulb rated up to 40W (not supplied), diffused through the linen shade for a calm, even glow rather than a direct point of light. Dooley measures around 32cm in height and 11cm in width, projecting about 12cm from the wall, with the shade itself around 13cm high and 6cm wide, and weighs 1kg. As a mains wired fitting, it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

Its compact size and soft output suit living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways as an accent light, either side of a bed, flanking a mirror, or spaced along a hallway wall. The polished nickel finish and linen shade sit well in both traditional and more contemporary interiors.

About Hudson Valley Lighting

Hudson Valley Lighting is an American decorative lighting brand that reworks familiar silhouettes with contemporary materials, linen shades among them, alongside its more traditional brass, bronze and alabaster pieces. Dooley is a good example of that approach applied to an otherwise classic sconce shape.

Questions People Ask

Does the Dooley wall sconce come with a light bulb?
No, this fitting does not include a bulb. It takes a single E14 bulb rated up to 40W, so you will need to source one separately before installing it.

Will the linen shade look exactly like the one in the photos?
Because the shade is made from genuine linen rather than glass or metal, each one carries slight natural variation in texture and tone, so very minor differences from the photos are normal and part of the material's character.

Does this sconce need to be installed by an electrician?
Yes, Dooley is a mains wired fitting rather than a plug in lamp, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician rather than fitted as a DIY job.

Can I return this sconce if I change my mind after ordering?
No, Dooley is made to order by Hudson Valley Lighting, so once an order is placed it cannot be returned, which is why it is worth checking the finish, dimensions and bulb requirements carefully beforehand.

Is the polished nickel finish suitable for a bathroom or other damp room?
Dooley is rated IP20, which means it is designed for dry to occasionally damp conditions rather than direct exposure to moisture, so it suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways better than a bathroom.
