Coltrane takes a faceted diamond outline and splits it in two, a textured black metal upper section meeting a clear acrylic lower half, joined by a plated band that wraps all four sides. It's a distinctive shape for a pendant, more sculptural object than conventional light fitting, and one that reads differently depending on the angle you view it from.

The upper diamond section is finished in a deliberately textured black metal, giving it a matte, tactile surface, while the connecting band is polished nickel, a cool, reflective metal that adds a crisp edge against the matte black. The lower half is clear acrylic, letting light pass through rather than diffusing it, so the fitting reads as bright and graphic rather than soft edged.

How it works

Coltrane takes four E14 bulbs, each rated up to 25W (not supplied), arranged to fill the acrylic lower section with light. The pendant measures around 51cm in height and 25cm in diameter, with a drop adjustable between roughly 58cm and 200cm to suit your ceiling height, and weighs around 5kg. As a mains wired fitting, it should be hung and wired by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

Its scale and graphic shape make it a strong fit above a kitchen island or dining table, where it can be seen and appreciated from below, ideally somewhere with enough headroom to let the full diamond form register.
