Hudson Valley Coltrane 4 Light Pendant - Aged Brass

Coltrane is a pendant light from Hudson Valley Lighting built around a faceted diamond shape, split into two distinct halves. The upper section is finished in textured black metal, while the lower half is clear acrylic, with a plated band wrapping around the middle where the two materials meet. It's a graphic, geometric fixture rather than a purely decorative one.

Aged brass detailing

The banding around the centre of the fixture is finished in aged brass, a warm, lightly burnished metal tone that lifts the black upper half and ties the piece to more traditional brass fittings elsewhere in a room. The lower acrylic half stays clear and glossy, letting light pass through rather than diffusing it.

How it works

Coltrane takes 4 x E14 bulbs, maximum 25W each (not supplied), positioned within the diamond form so the light reads through the clear acrylic lower half. It measures around 51cm in height and 25cm in diameter, with a minimum drop of roughly 58cm and a maximum drop of around 200cm, so it can be hung to suit different ceiling heights. As a mains wired fitting it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

Coltrane is suited to kitchens and dining rooms, particularly over an island or table where its graphic shape can be seen clearly from below and around. Its strong geometric form works well in contemporary and transitional kitchens looking for something more distinctive than a plain glass pendant.
