Metal loops built around an edge lit alabaster disc

Coil is built from a series of metal loops that start tight and compact at the centre and open out as they reach the edge, wrapped around a circular alabaster shade. The LEDs sit at the edge of the alabaster rather than behind it, so light travels through the stone from the side, picking out its natural veining as it goes.

Aged brass finish with natural alabaster

The looped frame is finished in aged brass, a warm tone that suits the organic, layered shape, while the alabaster disc at the centre is a genuine natural stone, so the colour and veining you receive will vary slightly piece to piece and from any photography you've seen. That's a normal feature of working with alabaster rather than a fault, though worth keeping in mind if you're ordering more than one for a symmetrical pair.

How it works

Coil uses a 12W integrated LED rated at 175 lumens with a warm 2700K colour temperature and a 90 CRI rating, and it's Triac dimmable with a compatible dimmer switch. It measures around 32cm in height and diameter, projecting about 4.5cm from the wall, sitting close to the surface. As a mains wired fitting, it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

Its warm, edge lit glow suits living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways where a soft accent light is wanted, for example either side of a mirror or fireplace, or spaced along a hallway.
