This Bowery "A" sconce sets a small cylindrical linen shade on a slim steel arm, producing a single soft point of light rather than a bright direct beam. It belongs to the wider Bowery collection, a range unified by its use of textured materials across sconces, pendants and vanity fixtures.

Polished nickel finish with a linen shade

The arm and backplate are finished in polished nickel, a cool, reflective metal tone that suits contemporary schemes and rooms built around chrome, glass or pale stone. The shade is linen, so its surface and tone carry the small natural variation typical of a fabric material rather than a manufactured finish.

How it works

It takes a single E14 bulb rated up to 8W (not supplied), set inside the linen shade for a diffused, glowing effect. The fitting measures around 55cm in height and 13cm in width, projecting about 15cm from the wall, with the shade itself around 13cm high and 6cm wide. As a mains wired fitting, it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

It works well in living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways as an accent rather than a primary light source, either side of a mirror or bed, or spaced along a landing or staircase wall. The polished nickel finish suits contemporary and transitional interiors in particular.
