Hudson Valley Borland 2 Light Wall Sconce Light - Aged Brass

A sunburst design in aged brass, with a smooth central medallion

Borland takes the classic starburst silhouette, a shape that first found favour on French and Belgian mirrors, and reworks it as a wall light. Two angled brass arms rise from a radiating sunburst medallion to a pair of cylindrical white fabric shades, giving the fitting a graphic, symmetrical presence on the wall.

Aged brass with a smooth centre

The frame and rays are finished in aged brass, a warm, deliberately burnished tone that reads well against dark paint and traditional joinery. At the centre of the sunburst sits a smooth, pale circular disc, a quieter contrast to the radiating brass rays around it.

How it works

Borland takes two E14 bulbs rated up to 40W each (not supplied), diffused through the cylindrical white fabric shades for a soft, upward glow. It measures around 46.4cm in height and 33.7cm in width, projecting about 14.6cm from the wall. As a mains wired fitting it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

It suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways where a striking focal point is wanted, above a console table, beside a fireplace, or as a statement either side of a bed. The sunburst form and aged brass finish work particularly well in rooms with dark walls or traditional detailing that can show off the silhouette.
