A ridged brass candlecup against a smooth alabaster diffuser

Argon pairs a ridged aged brass candlecup with a plain, cylindrical alabaster diffuser, the two textures set deliberately against each other on a slim rectangular backplate. It's a simple sconce shape at heart, but the material contrast gives it more presence than a plain metal or glass fitting would have.

Aged brass finish with natural alabaster

The candlecup and backplate are finished in aged brass, a warm, lightly burnished tone that suits both traditional rooms and warmer contemporary schemes. The diffuser is genuine alabaster stone, so the colour and veining will vary from piece to piece and from any photography you've seen, a natural characteristic rather than an inconsistency.

How it works

It takes a single E27 bulb rated up to 40W (not supplied), housed within the alabaster diffuser so the light comes through soft and warm rather than as a direct beam. It measures around 38.7cm in height and 10.8cm in width, projecting about 10.2cm from the wall. As a mains wired fitting it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

It works well in living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways as an accent rather than a main light source, flanking a mirror, either side of a range or fireplace, or spaced along a run of wall. The aged brass and alabaster pairing suits interiors built around warm metals and natural materials.
