The Opal Disk Ceiling Light in brass is a four arm flush fitting built around an angled arrangement of reflective metal disks, each cradling a hand finished opal glass shade. Rather than sitting flat against the ceiling, the shades project outward at varying angles, so light scatters across the room instead of pooling directly below. With its IP44 rating it is equally suited to a bathroom as it is to a hallway or bedroom, and its wide, sculptural spread makes it a natural centrepiece above a bathroom vanity or as the main light in a landing or dressing area.

The brass finish

This variant is finished in a warm, plated brass over a steel body, giving the disks a soft metallic glow that catches and bounces the light from the opal glass shades. It has a mid century character that sits comfortably with warm woods, brushed brass taps and fittings, and richer wall colours such as terracotta, olive or deep blue. The opal glass itself is a soft, milky white, diffusing the bulb rather than showing it directly, so the fitting reads as gently glowing rather than glaring.

How it works

Four G9 fitting bulbs sit within the disk shades (bulbs are not included, and 3w G9 LED bulbs are recommended, with a maximum wattage of 28w across the fixture). The light is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and external wall switch, and the stem offers three adjustable drop heights so it can be set closer to the ceiling in lower rooms or dropped further in a room with more height. This is a hardwired, 240v mains fixture, so it needs to be connected by a qualified electrician as part of installation.

Where it works best

Thanks to its IP44 rating, this ceiling light is a genuine option for bathrooms, including over a vanity or bath area, as well as anywhere else in the home where you want a decorative main light with a wide, even spread, such as a hallway, landing or bedroom. The angled shades help it read as a piece of light sculpture in its own right, so it works well as a feature in a room without much else on the ceiling.
