The Hinkley Plantation Single Wall Light is a compact IP44 bathroom wall light with a classic pineapple shaped glass shade, finished here in Polished Antique Nickel. At around 22cm tall, it's sized for a single point of light beside a mirror or vanity rather than a whole wall.

Polished Antique Nickel finish

This variant pairs a bright, softly aged nickel finish with a matching candle sleeve and a clear optic glass shade cut in the Plantation collection's signature pineapple shape. The steel body and glass shade give it a slightly formal, traditional look that suits classic and transitional bathrooms, and it pairs well with chrome or nickel taps and mirror frames.

How it works

The light takes a single G9 bulb, ideally a 3W LED, which isn't included so you'll need to add one to your order. Light passes out through the optic glass shade rather than in a plain beam, giving a softer glow than an open bulb would. It's dimmable if you fit dimmable LED bulbs. Standard bulbs that aren't dimmable will not dim even on a dimmer switch. This is a Class I fitting, which means it must be properly earthed as part of installation. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

With an IP44 rating, this wall light is suitable for bathroom zones 2 and outside zone, so it can sit beside a bathroom mirror or vanity unit as well as in a hallway, landing or bedroom. The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started in 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, when Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns, his first catalogue holding just fourteen products. In the mid 1930s Phil became ill with tuberculosis and sold half the business to Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman who bought the rest after Phil died in 1937. Stanley's grandson Rick joined the company in 1969 and spent fifty years there, and the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, began taking on leadership roles around 2000. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs, including this Plantation wall light, for UK wiring and full CE certification.
