Hinkley Plantation (Bath) Single Wall Light - Burnished Brass

A pineapple glass wall light for the bathroom

The Plantation Single Wall Light brings the range's pineapple shaped glass shade to a single arm design in Burnished Brass, sized for beside a mirror or either side of a vanity. It is IP44 rated, so it copes well with the steam and splashes of everyday bathroom use.

Burnished Brass finish

Burnished Brass gives this fitting a warm, bright metal tone, with leaf like cast detailing wrapped around the arm that holds the shade. The clear optic glass shade scatters light out through the glass rather than showing a single hard bulb, and the brass tone pairs well with brass or chrome taps and mirror frames already in the room.

How it works

This wall light takes one G9 LED bulb, up to 3.5W, and the bulb is not included, so you will need to add one to your order. It is dimmable if you fit a dimmable G9 bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting is Class I, which means it needs an earth connection as part of the wiring. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, this brass wall light is suitable for bathroom zones 2 and outside zone, making it a genuine option for wall mounting beside a mirror or either side of a vanity unit. It also works well on a hallway or bedroom wall where a single, glass diffused light is wanted. For more detail on where different bathroom fittings can go, see our guide to bathroom lighting zones and regulations.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started small. Phil R. Hinkley founded the company in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922, with a debut catalogue of just 14 outdoor lanterns. A fitting like this one, with its detailed cast brass and glass shade, carries that same attention to a single piece into a bathroom wall today. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings such as this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification, so a range that began with 14 lanterns now reaches bathrooms across Britain.

Questions People Ask

Is this wall light dimmable? Yes, it works with a dimmer switch as long as you fit a dimmable G9 LED bulb. A standard non dimmable bulb will not dim smoothly even on a dimmer circuit.

Does it come with a bulb? No, this fitting takes 1 x G9 LED bulb, up to 3.5W, and you will need to add one to your order separately.

Can I fit this in my bathroom? Yes, it is IP44 rated, which covers bathroom zone 2 and the area outside the zones, so it suits wall mounting beside a mirror or vanity unit as long as it sits outside zones 0 and 1.

Does this light need to be earthed? Yes, it is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection as part of a correct installation.

What does the glass shade look like? It is a clear optic glass shade shaped like a pineapple, a detail that identifies the wider Plantation range, and it diffuses light out through the glass rather than showing a single bright bulb.
