A compact, low profile design

The Meridian single wall light is the most compact piece in Hinkley's Meridian range, built for rooms where a bulkier fitting would feel out of place. Its clean lines and soft curves give it an understated presence that works well as a single fitting or paired symmetrically either side of a mirror.

Polished Chrome finish with opal glass

This wall light pairs a Polished Chrome backplate with an opal glass diffuser, giving a soft, even glow rather than a bright point of light. The same design is also available in a Nickel finish, so you can match it to other fittings already in the room.

How it works

The Meridian takes one 3.5W LED G9 bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to add one to your order. It's dimmable when used with dimmable LED bulbs. This fitting is wall mounted and self contained, with no separate shade or diffuser to fit. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It's rated Class I, which means it requires an earth connection.

This wall light is IP44 rated, which makes it a good fit for bathroom lighting zones and regulations zone 2 and outside zone, such as beside a mirror or vanity unit. Its low profile also suits hallways, landings and bedrooms where a compact, minimal wall light is needed.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 when Phil R. Hinkley opened a small outdoor lantern company in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. After Phil's death in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had already bought half the business, took it over fully and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. The Wiedemer family has led Hinkley ever since, from Stanley's grandson Rick, who joined in 1969, to Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, who began taking on leadership roles around 2000. Meridian's clean, low profile design is a long way from that first outdoor lantern catalogue, and shows how far the range has grown. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs, including this wall light, for UK wiring and full CE certification.
