The Hinkley Meridian 3 light semi-flush sits close against the ceiling rather than hanging down, so it works in rooms where a pendant would sit too low. This polished chrome version pairs a bright, reflective finish with opal glass diffusers for a clean, understated look. It's rated IP44, so it's a fitting you can use in a bathroom as well as anywhere else in the home.

The frame is steel finished in polished chrome, with opal glass diffusers over each of the three lights. The glass softens the light and keeps the fitting looking crisp rather than glary. If chrome isn't right for your scheme, Meridian is also available in a nickel finish.

How it works

This fitting takes three G9 LED bulbs of 3.5W each, and bulbs aren't included, so you'll need to add three to your order. It's dimmable, as long as you fit dimmable G9 LED bulbs and pair them with a compatible dimmer switch. It's a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. The Wiedemer family took over not long after, and by 1969 the third generation, Rick Wiedemer Jr, had joined a business that would keep him busy for fifty years. A fitting as pared back as this Meridian semi-flush reflects how far the range has grown since then, and since 2012 Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification so a piece designed in Cleveland works safely on a UK ceiling.
