The largest light in the Masthead range
This two light wall light is the biggest fitting in Hinkley's Masthead collection, pairing Polished Chrome with Black across a 61cm width for a bolder, more commanding look than the single light versions. It's a striking choice if you want the collection's nautical style at a larger scale.
Polished Chrome and Black finish
A Steel frame in Polished Chrome carries clear glass panels edged in Black, giving the fitting clean lines and a bit of contrast. It suits both traditional and modern schemes, and pairs well with chrome taps, mirrors and other bathroom or hallway hardware.
How it works
This fitting takes 2 x E27 bulbs, which aren't included, so you'll need to add these to your order. It's dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs, though standard bulbs won't allow dimming. It's wall mounted and may need some simple assembly on arrival. It's a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where it works best
This wall light is IP44 rated, which makes it suitable for bathroom lighting zones and regulations zones 2 and outside zone. It works equally well outside a bathroom, in a hallway, landing or bedroom where its wider two light layout can make more of a statement.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley's story starts in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley founded the company in Cleveland, Ohio, as a small outdoor lantern maker with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. That maritime language, the clean lines and glass you still see on this Masthead wall light, traces back to those early lanterns. After Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had already bought half the business in the mid 1930s, took on the rest and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. His grandson Rick Wiedemer joined in 1969 and went on to spend fifty years with the company, before the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, began taking on leadership roles around 2000. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs, this two light Masthead among them, for UK and European homes, converting each fitting to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
