Steel forms the body of this fitting, finished in a warm Heritage Brass with contrasting black detailing, and set behind clear glass. How it works

Masthead takes one E27 LED bulb, which is not included, so you will need to order one separately. Choose a dimmable bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch if you want to dim it, since dimming depends on the bulb rather than the fitting itself. It is wall mounted and arrives with some simple assembly to keep it protected in transit. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be wired to an earthed supply.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started in 1922 when Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a first catalogue of just fourteen pieces. When Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had already bought half the business, took full ownership and moved his own family to Cleveland to keep it going. His grandson Rick Wiedemer Jr joined in 1969 and stayed for fifty years, and by around 2000 the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, had begun taking on leadership themselves. That family continuity is part of why the range has grown so far beyond its lantern roots, with pieces like Masthead bringing a coastal sensibility indoors. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, rewiring fittings like this one for 220 to 240V and securing full CE certification.
