The Hollis Single Wall Light channels 1920s Art Deco design into a compact, single light wall fitting made from steel. This version pairs a solid matte black frame with an opal glass shade, so the light spreads softly rather than showing the bulb's outline through clear glass.

The frame is steel finished in a deep matte black that suits most colour schemes, from warm neutrals to darker walls. The shade is opal glass, an evenly frosted finish that diffuses light gently and hides the bulb from view. If black isn't quite right, this design is also available in white.

How it works

This is a wall mounted fitting for a single E14 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll want to add one to your order. It's dimmable if you choose dimmable LED bulbs and pair them with a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting is Class I rated, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, the Hollis is suitable for bathroom zone 2 and the outside zone under the bathroom lighting zones and regulations. Its compact size also suits hallways, landings and as a bedside wall light in a bedroom.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started small. Phil R. Hinkley founded the company in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922, with a debut catalogue of just 14 outdoor lantern designs. Nearly a century on, the range has grown well beyond lanterns to include pieces like the Hollis, a compact steel and glass wall light built for everyday rooms rather than just porches. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs, this one included, for UK homes, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Is this light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable LED bulbs and use a compatible dimmer switch. Standard non-dimmable bulbs won't dim even on a dimmer circuit.

Does it come with a bulb? No, this fitting takes 1 x E14 LED bulb which isn't included, so you'll need to add one to your order.
