The Hollis Single Wall Light takes its cue from the streamlined lantern shapes of 1920s Art Deco lighting. It is a small steel wall light finished in Heritage Brass and paired with a clear seeded glass shade, giving a warm, decorative glow rather than a hard modern light.

Heritage Brass and clear seeded glass

Heritage Brass is an aged, warm toned finish that suits traditional and transitional interiors. Steel gives the fitting its shape and strength, and the clear seeded glass shade has a light, bubbled texture that catches and scatters the light rather than showing a flat, plain surface. The combination works well alongside darker woods, brushed brass ironmongery and other warm metal fittings.

How it works

Hollis takes a single E14 bulb, which is not supplied, so you will need to add one when you order. It is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. The fitting is Class I, so it needs to be earthed. It mounts flush to the wall over a standard wall box. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, Hollis is suitable for bathroom zones 2 and outside zone under the bathroom lighting zones and regulations, so it works either side of a bathroom mirror as well as in a hallway, living room or bedroom. Its small scale also suits it to pairs flanking a mirror or doorway.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started out making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio. His debut catalogue held just 14 products. Hollis's compact, Art Deco inspired shape has more in common with that small scale, lantern making origin than with a large statement piece. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
