This three light wall light is the biggest fitting in Hinkley's Hollis range, spanning 60.6cm wide across its three opal glass shades. It suits a wall with real presence, a wide hallway run, a generous bathroom wall or a living space that can take a horizontal spread of light. The Heritage Brass frame and opal glass give it a soft, traditional glow rather than a harsh beam.

The frame is steel finished in Heritage Brass, a warm, slightly aged tone that reads as traditional rather than contemporary. Each of the three shades is opal glass, which spreads light evenly across the fitting instead of throwing a hard beam. It pairs well with aged or antique brass hardware, dark wood furniture and painted panelling.

How it works

This fitting takes 3 x E14 LED bulbs, which aren't supplied, so you will need to add three to your order. It's dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. Bulbs that aren't dimmable won't respond to a dimmer switch even if one is fitted. The fitting mounts to a standard wall box. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It's rated Class I, which means it must be properly earthed as part of a safe installation.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, this light is suitable for bathroom lighting zones and regulations zone 2 and the outside zone, so it works well over a bathroom vanity or beside a mirror, as well as in hallways, landings and living spaces. Given its width, it works best on a clear stretch of wall, either as a single fitting or spaced along a run.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley's story starts in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley set up a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. The Hollis range's 1920s Art Deco lines echo that early era, even though the company itself has changed hands and shape more than once since then. Most recently, it took on Regency Ceiling Fans in 2019 and simplified its name to simply Hinkley by 2020. In the UK, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs since 2012, converting fittings like this Hollis wall light to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
