The Ainsley single wall light brings a traditional profile into the bathroom, with turned cup detailing and a cased opal glass shade that spreads the light gently rather than showing the bulb itself. It's a compact fitting, just over 19cm tall, so it sits neatly beside a mirror or along a hallway wall without taking over the space.

Polished Chrome finish

This Ainsley wall light is made from mild steel and finished in a bright, reflective Polished Chrome that sits well alongside chrome taps, towel rails and mirror frames. The cased opal glass shade keeps the look soft and traditional, with a neat trim ring finishing the join where the shade meets the wall plate.

How it works

This is a single wall mounted light with a fixed backplate that wires directly into the mains via a standard wall box. It takes 1 x 3W LED G9 bulb, dimmable if you fit dimmable G9 bulbs, though the bulb itself isn't included so you'll need to add one to your order. This fitting is Class I, which means it needs an earth connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started out making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. The business changed hands within the family more than once over the following decades, from Stanley Wiedemer taking full ownership in 1937 to his grandson Rick joining in 1969 for a career that spanned fifty years. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like Ainsley to 220 to 240V wiring and giving them full CE certification, which is how a design rooted in an American lantern maker ends up rated for a British bathroom.
