A Single Flame You Can Take Anywhere

The Wick in graphite is Graypants' cordless take on a table light shaped like a single candle flame. This is the full sized Wick, standing 26cm tall on a 12cm diameter base, with a matte graphite aluminium column topped by a slim opal acrylic diffuser that glows at the tip. Because it runs on a rechargeable battery rather than a cord, it goes wherever you want a small, self contained light: a desk, a dining table, a windowsill, a hallway console.

A Cool, Brushed Graphite Finish

This variant is finished in a brushed graphite grey rather than Wick's warmer tones, giving it a quieter, more industrial look. The tapered aluminium base and slim stem have a soft matte texture that catches light without shining, and a small ring set into the base doubles as a carry handle. It suits modern, minimal or industrial interiors and sits comfortably alongside black, steel or dark wood finishes.

How It Works

The Wick has a 1W integrated LED at its tip, producing a warm 2600K glow at around 35 lumens. The LED is built into the fitting and cannot be replaced. A touch sensitive band on the stem steps through four settings: High, Medium and Low brightness, plus a flickering Pulse mode that mimics candlelight rather than a steady beam. It charges via a USB-C port set into the underside of the base. There is no wiring involved, so there is nothing to install, and it is designed for indoor use only.

Where It Works Best

Its small footprint and lack of cord make the Wick easy to move between rooms: on a bedside table for reading light, on a dining table as a soft centrepiece, or in a hallway or living room where a plug socket is not close by. The Pulse setting suits evenings when you want something closer to a candle's flicker than a fixed lamp, while the higher settings give enough light for close tasks like reading.

Graypants, Seattle to Amsterdam

Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. The studio's interest in simple, sculptural forms carries through the Wick collection, even though it is a cordless, rechargeable lamp rather than one of the brand's better known cardboard shades.
