Because bright white cardboard is too dense for a laser to cut cleanly, Graypants' craftspeople knife cut each layer by hand before assembling and bonding the shade with a non-toxic adhesive, a slower process that keeps every lamp genuinely one of a kind. The tilted, off-centre silhouette still throws the same intricate shadow patterns across ceiling and walls, only in a softer, whiter light, and it is a plug-in fixture that can go anywhere there is a socket, with no rewiring needed.
