The Graypants Scraplights Moon table lamp is a sphere of laser cut cardboard rings that glows amber when switched on. This Blonde version keeps the cardboard in its natural, undyed tone, so the layered rings read almost like a slice through a tree trunk. At 25cm in diameter, it is sized to sit happily on a console table, bedside table or low shelf, adding sculptural texture even before the light goes on.

The Blonde Finish

Blonde is the most natural of the Scraplights finishes: no stain, no paint, just the cardboard's own honeyed colour left to show through. Every ring is cut individually then hand assembled, so the exact grain and shading of each lamp varies slightly from the next. It pairs well with light oak, linen and other pared back materials, and suits Scandinavian, Japandi and organic modern interiors where texture matters more than polish.

How It Works

This is a plug in table lamp with an inline switch set into a 2.5m black fabric cord, so there is no wiring to arrange, just a lamp to place and a cord to run to the nearest socket. It takes a single standard E27 LED bulb, up to 15W, which is not supplied. Fit a dimmable LED and the lamp will dim, so you can take the glow from a low background light down to reading level or up to something brighter for evening chatting.

Graypants and the Scraplights Story

Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. The Scraplights collection, of which the Moon lamp is part, began almost by accident: the pair entered a sustainable design competition and built their first cardboard light from leftover packaging material rather than buying anything new. That original idea, offcuts turned into something worth keeping, is still how every Scraplight is made today.
