A Softer, Rounder Take on the Moon

The Moon 14 is the more compact member of Graypants' Moon family, a hardwired pendant built from stacked rings of laser cut cardboard. Switch it on and the blonde board glows amber, throwing a lattice of shadow across the ceiling and walls around it. At 36cm across and 31cm tall, it sits lower and rounder than the larger Moon 24, giving it a soft, orb like shape overhead rather than a tall column of light.

Natural Blonde Cardboard

This is the Blonde finish: raw, undyed corrugated cardboard in its natural warm tone, laser cut into rings and hand assembled with non-toxic adhesive, then fire retardant treated. As with any handmade product made from a natural material, gentle variation in tone and grain from one shade to the next is normal and part of the character. It pairs well with warm timber furniture, exposed brick and other natural textures, rather than high gloss or heavily lacquered surfaces.

How It Works

• Takes one E27 bulb, 15W LED maximum, not included.
• Fit a dimmable LED if you want the option to dim the light; dimming depends on the bulb chosen.
• Hardwired to the mains, so it should be fitted by a qualified electrician.
• Comes on a 2m white fabric cord with a round canopy 10cm across and 2.5cm high, finished in grey powder coated metal. The drop can be adjusted on site, and a 5m cord is available on request.

Where Scraplights Began

Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. The Scraplights collection began almost by accident, when the pair entered a sustainable design competition and started experimenting with leftover cardboard rather than buying new material. That original idea, cardboard cut and stacked into light, still runs through every Moon pendant made today.
