The Ebey table lamp in Blonde brings the softened, honeyed tones of Graypants' original Scraplights range down to tabletop scale. Its 24cm diameter shade is built from layers of reclaimed corrugated cardboard, laser cut into an intricate pattern and hand assembled, so light escapes through hundreds of small cuts rather than one bright source. Standing 34cm tall, it is compact enough for a bedside table, console or reading nook, and no two shades are ever quite identical because each one is built by hand.

Blonde: Pale, Honeyed Cardboard

Blonde is the lightest of Graypants' cardboard finishes, close to the material's natural pale tone rather than a dyed or stained colour. Layered and laser cut, the shade catches light unevenly across its surface, giving it a warm, papery texture that pairs well with natural wood, linen and other honest, unfinished materials. It suits Scandinavian, Japandi and other pared back interiors where texture matters as much as colour.

How It Works

The Ebey is a plug in table lamp, not a hardwired fixture, so there is no electrician needed. It comes with a 2.5m black fabric cord and an inline switch, and takes a single E27 bulb up to 15W max LED (bulb not included). Fit a dimmable LED with a compatible dimmer if you want to bring the glow down low in the evening; otherwise how dim it runs depends entirely on the bulb you choose.

Cardboard by Accident, a Studio by Design

Scraplights began almost by accident, when Graypants entered a sustainable design competition and built a lampshade from leftover cardboard rather than buying new material. Graypants itself was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati, and the Scraplights range grew out of that first cardboard experiment into the studio's best known collection.
