The white finish sits directly on the same knife cut corrugated cardboard used across the Drum range, so the ridged, layered texture is still visible close up even though the colour has changed. In white, that texture reads more like fabric pleating or fluted ceramic than raw cardboard, and it pairs naturally with pale walls, light timber, and other contemporary materials rather than the warmer, more rustic look of the natural cardboard version. A round canopy, finished to match in white powder coated steel, keeps the fitting visually quiet where it meets the ceiling.

This is a hardwired ceiling pendant, so it needs to be connected by a qualified electrician, who will also set the finished drop length on site. From a Seattle Studio to a Sustainable Lighting Brand

Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. The Scraplights collection this Drum belongs to began almost by accident, when the pair entered a sustainable design competition and started experimenting with leftover cardboard instead of buying new material. That original idea, turning a waste material into a light fitting, is still the starting point for every Scraplights shade made today, including this one.
