A Brighter Take on the Drop Silhouette

The Drop 26 pendant is Graypants' classic ridged cardboard drum, reworked here in a bright White finish. The shade measures 65cm in height and 36cm in diameter, hung on a 2m white fabric cord from a small white powder coated canopy, 10cm in diameter and 2.5cm high, with a 5m cord available on request. It is one of the larger shade sizes in the White Drop range, so it makes a lighter, brighter statement than Graypants' Blonde or Natural cardboard tones while keeping the same warm, textured glow the Scraplights collection is known for.

The White Finish, Knife Cut By Hand

Corrugated cardboard is cut for this finish with a knife by hand rather than by laser, because the pale White cardboard does not show laser scoring as cleanly as Graypants' darker tones. Each ring is cut and shaped individually, then bonded with a non toxic adhesive and treated with a non toxic fire retardant, the same process used across the wider Scraplights range. The result is a shade that reads brighter and cleaner than a Blonde or Natural Drop, while still filtering light through its ridged surface into that familiar warm glow. It suits a pared back Scandinavian room or a bright contemporary space where you want the tactile, handcrafted look of cardboard without a deep amber cast.

How It Works

This is a hardwired ceiling pendant, hung on a 2m white fabric cord from a small white powder coated canopy. It takes a single E27 LED bulb, up to 15W maximum, which is not supplied. Choose a dimmable E27 LED bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch if you want to dim the light. As with any hardwired fitting, it should be connected by a qualified electrician, who can also set the drop to suit your ceiling. It carries CE safety certification and a 2 year warranty.

Where It Works Best

The White finish's lighter tone suits pared back Scandinavian or contemporary interiors where a darker shade would feel too heavy. It hangs well as a single pendant over a dining table or kitchen island, or in a hallway or stairwell with some height to play with. Because the shade still filters light through its ridged cardboard surface, it works best as a warm ambient feature rather than the sole source of light in a large room.

Graypants and the Scraplights Story

Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. The Scraplights collection is said to have started almost by accident, born out of leftover cardboard at a sustainable design competition, and grew from there into the ridged cardboard shades the brand is now known for.

Questions People Ask

• Is this pendant dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 LED bulb and use a compatible LED dimmer switch. It is not dimmable with a standard, non dimmable bulb.
• Are bulbs included with this light? No. It takes a single E27 LED bulb, up to 15W maximum, which is not supplied.
• Can I return this if I change my mind? No. Because of the handmade, cardboard nature of this piece, it is strictly non returnable. Please get in touch with Moonlight to ask about seeing the fittings or receiving a swatch before you order.
• Why is the White finish knife cut instead of laser cut? Pale White cardboard does not show laser scoring as cleanly as Graypants' darker tones, so each ring is cut by hand with a knife instead, then bonded and fire treated in the same way as the rest of the Scraplights range.
• Does this need an electrician to fit? Yes, it is a hardwired pendant and should be installed by a qualified electrician, who can also help set the drop to suit your ceiling height.
