The Dome 36 is the largest size in Graypants' Dome silhouette, and in white it takes on a paler, more architectural character than the collection's more common natural finish. At 92cm in diameter, 50cm in height and 9.5kg in weight, this is a genuinely large fixture, built to anchor a room on its own rather than sit alongside other lighting. Every shade is still hand assembled from knife cut cardboard rings, so the layered, ridged texture that makes Scraplights recognisable is there under the white finish, just quieter.

A Cooler, Cleaner White Finish

Where Graypants' natural Scraplights read warm and papery, this white finish takes the same knife cut cardboard rings and gives them a cleaner, more graphic surface. Up close the layered ridges and cut edges are still visible, but from across a room the white reads as a smooth, almost ceramic dome rather than a cardboard one. It suits pale walls, exposed concrete or timber, anywhere you want the shape to read first and the material second. The small ceiling canopy is finished in matching white powder coated steel, so the fixing hardware disappears rather than competing with the shade.

How It Works

• The dome is hand assembled from knife cut corrugated cardboard rings, bonded with a non-toxic adhesive and treated with a non-toxic fire retardant.
• It is a hardwired ceiling pendant, supplied with a 2m white fabric cord (a 5m cord is available on request) and a small white powder coated canopy measuring 2.5cm high by 10cm across.
• It takes three E27 fittings, each rated up to 15W maximum LED. Bulbs are not supplied, so you can choose the colour temperature and brightness you want.
• Pair with dimmable LED bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch if you would like to soften the glow further.
• This is a hardwired fitting, so it should always be installed by a qualified electrician.

Graypants and the Scraplights Story

Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. The Scraplights collection, which this Dome 36 belongs to, began almost by accident, when the pair used leftover cardboard at a sustainable design competition and found the material could be knife cut and layered into a shade that let light glow through its edges. The idea stuck, and Scraplights has been part of the Graypants range ever since.
