Hang the Alki pendant in Natural over a kitchen island and watch the room change character after dark, as the reclaimed corrugated cardboard shade softens ordinary bulb light into a diffused, flickering amber that spills intricate ring shaped shadows across walls and ceiling. Graypants builds each 32cm shade by laser cutting the cardboard in its raw, undyed finish, then bonding the layers by hand with a non-toxic adhesive, a process reliant on skilled hands rather than machinery, so slight variation between shades is part of the design rather than a flaw. It reads equally well above a breakfast bar, in a reading corner, or as a statement piece in an entryway, and its earthy, unfinished tone sits comfortably in organic modern, biophilic or Japandi rooms.
