Two Directions, One Warm Glow

The Roest Sconce 30 is a hardwired wall light that throws its light both ways at once, up across the wall and ceiling, down toward the floor. This version comes in Zinc, a cooler, more industrial take on the Roest collection's usual rust tones. It is a small, slim fixture at 30cm tall, but the dual beam gives it a presence bigger than its size.

A Cooler, Industrial Take on Rust

Underneath, this is the same oxidised steel that runs through the whole Roest range, sealed once it reaches the right depth of colour. On this variant, that steel is finished in zinc coated steel, giving it a flatter, cooler grey tone rather than the warm orange rust of the raw finish. It reads more like weathered industrial metalwork than a barn find, so it sits well against black ironmongery, concrete, timber and other muted, textural finishes.

How It Works

This is a hardwired sconce, wired directly into your wall rather than plugged in, so it needs connecting by a qualified electrician. It takes 2 x 10W max GU10 LED bulbs (not supplied), one for the upward beam and one for the downward beam. Choose dimmable GU10 LED bulbs and pair them with a compatible LED dimmer switch if you want to dim the light. CE certified for UK and EU use.

Where It Works Best

The up and down spread makes this a good fit for hallways and stairwells, where you want light on the wall and ceiling without a single hard beam. It also works well either side of a bed as an alternative to table lamps, or dotted along a living room, kitchen or dining room wall as a layer of ambient light alongside your main fitting.

Handmade in the Netherlands with VanJoost

The Roest collection was developed by Graypants with Dutch design studio VanJoost, led by designer Joost van Veldhuizen. Each piece is hand finished in the Netherlands from steel that is left to oxidise naturally and then sealed once it reaches the right tone. Because that process is never quite the same twice, no two Roest fittings are ever perfectly identical.

• Bulbs are not supplied. Use 2 x 10W max GU10 LED bulbs, dimmable if you want to use it with a dimmer switch.
• CE certified, with a 2 year warranty.
• Wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners on the finish.

Questions People Ask

• Is the Roest Sconce 30 dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable GU10 LED bulbs and use a compatible LED dimmer switch. It is not dimmable with standard, non dimmable bulbs.
• Are bulbs included with this light? No. It takes 2 x 10W max GU10 LED bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to source these separately.
• Can I return this if I do not like the finish once it arrives? No. Because of the handmade, naturally finished nature of this piece, it is non-returnable. If you are unsure about the finish, get in touch with Moonlight to ask about seeing the fittings or receiving a swatch before you order.
• Will my Zinc sconce look exactly like the photos? Close, but not identical. Each piece starts from steel that is left to oxidise naturally before being sealed and finished in zinc, so small surface variations from one fitting to the next are normal and part of the finish.
• Can this be installed as a plug in light? No. The Roest Sconce 30 is hardwired and needs to be wired directly into your wall by a qualified electrician.
