The Roest 45v Pendant in Zinc takes Graypants' signature oxidised steel cylinder and finishes it in a cooler, more silvered tone rather than the collection's usual warm rust. The tall, narrow shade measures 45cm in height and 6cm in diameter, so it reads as a single vertical line of light rather than a wide shade. Hung on its own, it gives a room one quiet, architectural point of focus.

Zinc: A Cooler Read on Oxidised Steel

Underneath, this is the same naturally oxidised steel used throughout the Roest range, left to weather before being sealed once it reaches the right depth of colour. On the 45v, that process is sealed in Zinc, a flatter, cooler grey rather than the collection's warm rust orange. Because the finish is oxidised rather than painted, the surface stays gently variable and hand finished rather than perfectly uniform. It sits comfortably alongside pale oak, concrete and stone, giving a Scandinavian or Japandi interior a quiet accent without the warmer red brown tones of the Rust option.

How It Works

The 45v is a hardwired pendant, suspended on a 2m black fabric cord from a black powder coated ceiling canopy measuring 2.5cm in height and 10cm in diameter. A 5m cord is available if you need extra drop, just ask Moonlight to enquire on your behalf. It takes a single GU10 LED lamp, 10W maximum, which is not supplied. Choose a dimmable GU10 LED and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch if you want to bring the light down for evenings. As a hardwired fitting, it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where It Works Best

Because the light casts down through a narrow shaft rather than spreading wide, the 45v works well hung on its own above a side table, in an entrance hall, or over a stairwell where the light needs to travel down through height rather than out across a room. It also suits a bedside spot or a quiet corner of a living room, anywhere that calls for one considered point of light rather than a wide wash.

Handmade in the Netherlands with VanJoost

The Roest collection was developed by Graypants with Dutch design studio VanJoost, led by designer Joost van Veldhuizen. Each piece is hand finished in the Netherlands from steel that is left to oxidise naturally and then sealed once it reaches the right tone. Because that process is never quite the same twice, no two Roest fittings are ever perfectly identical.
