A Looped Ribbon of Light, Not a Ring
The Halo215 is the taller of the two sizes in Graypants' Levity Halo range, and it is not a solid ring at all. It is built from a single flexible tube of light that loops down from a slim horizontal bar and crosses over itself, so the shape shifts as you walk around it, reading as a smile from straight on and as a crossing loop from an angle. It is the larger of the two Halo sizes, with a 60cm diameter and a 60cm drop from the mounting bar, so it wants a touch more headroom than its smaller Halo180 sibling.
Matte Black Bar, Rod and Canopy
In this finish, the horizontal bar, the stem above it and the ceiling canopy are all done in a matte black powder coat over steel, with no visible screws on show. The glowing loop itself keeps its natural pale, finely ribbed surface, so against the black hardware it reads almost like a piece of woven light suspended in a frame. That contrast of flat black metal against a warm, textured glow suits interiors with a bit of an architectural or minimal edge, and pairs well with timber, concrete or plain painted walls.
How It Works
An integrated 32W LED runs the full length of the flexible tube rather than sitting at a single point, so the whole loop glows evenly instead of showing separate bulbs. It puts out around 3000 lumens at a warm 3000K colour temperature and is mains dimmable, so it can be brought down for evening use. The fixture is hardwired, so it needs connecting by a qualified electrician rather than plugged into a socket, and it hangs on a 2 metre black fabric cord that connects to the black powder coated canopy, which measures 3.5cm high and 15cm across. It carries CE safety certification and a 2 year warranty from Graypants.
Where It Works Best
Halo215's moderate size and sculptural loop make it a good fit above a dining table, a desk or a console in an entrance hall, anywhere it can be seen from a few angles rather than tucked against a wall. It works as a single statement piece over a table, or in pairs or a row along a run of worktop or a long console, and suits anyone who wants one distinctive fitting rather than a cluster of smaller lights.
Graypants, from Seattle to the World
Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2007 by Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, who met while studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati. That architectural background shows in the Levity collection's plain, structural forms, which favour a single continuous line and an even glow over decoration.
Good to Know
- This item is strictly non-returnable due to the nature of the product. Please get in touch with Moonlight if you would like to see the fittings or receive a swatch sample before you order.
- This is the larger of the two Levity Halo sizes: 60cm diameter and a 60cm drop from the bar, on a 2 metre cord. Please check these measurements against your space and ceiling height before ordering.
- The fitting itself is light, at around 2.7kg, though it is still worth having your electrician confirm the ceiling fixing can take it.
- Wipe the black steel and the tube's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can mark the powder coat.
- Comes complete with its 2 metre black cord and a 15cm diameter black canopy, ready to be hardwired in.
Questions People Ask
- How big is the Halo215 pendant? It has a 60cm diameter and a 60cm drop from the mounting bar, making it the taller of the two sizes in Graypants' Levity Halo range (the Halo180 has a 36cm drop). It hangs on a 2 metre black cord, so check your ceiling height and the space around it before ordering.
- Is the Halo215 a solid ring? No. It is a single flexible tube of light that loops from a horizontal bar and crosses over itself, so it looks like a simple curve from straight on and a crossing loop from an angle, rather than one unbroken circle.
- Is the Halo215 dimmable? Yes. It uses a mains dimmable integrated LED, so it can be run from a standard dimmer switch to lower the light in the evening.
- What light source does it use? It has an integrated 32W LED running the length of the tube, putting out around 3000 lumens at a warm 3000K colour temperature. It is not a swappable bulb, so it is not user replaceable.
- Can I return this if it does not suit my space? No. This is a non-returnable item due to the nature of the product, so it is worth asking Moonlight for a swatch or a look at the fittings before you commit to an order.
