A classic above mirror light with roots in colonial America
The Concord single wall light brings a piece of Colonial era American design into the bathroom. It has a goose neck arm that reaches out from a cleanly chamfered backplate with a cut corner detail, ending in a four sided, opal etched glass shade with bevelled corners. It is a fitting built for above the mirror or beside it, giving soft, even light exactly where you shave, apply makeup or simply check your reflection before heading out the door.
Polished chrome finish
This piece comes in a polished chrome finish, with the reflective metalwork softened by the frosted texture of the etched glass. The pairing gives the light a bright, clean look that sits comfortably in both traditional and more pared back contemporary bathrooms, and it pairs naturally with chrome taps, towel rails and mirror frames already in the room.
How it works
The fitting takes a single G9 LED bulb, which is not included, so you will want to order one separately before installing. It is Class I, meaning it must be properly earthed during installation, so we would always recommend a qualified electrician fits it, particularly given its bathroom use. Fixing to the wall is straightforward via the chamfered backplate, and the goose neck arm allows a small amount of adjustment once it is up.
Where it works best
With an IP44 rating, this light is suitable for bathroom zones 2 and outside zone, making it a genuine option for above or beside a mirror in a bathroom, not just a hallway or bedroom. If you are not sure which zone your bathroom falls into, or how IP44 compares with other ratings, our guide to bathroom lighting zones and regulations walks through it. Outside the bathroom, it also works well as an accent light in a hallway, landing or dressing area.
The story behind Feiss
Today the Feiss name sits within Visual Comfort & Co., with Elstead Lighting handling the UK and European side of the business, adapting the Concord collection for 220 to 240V wiring since 2012, but the brand's roots go back much further, to 1955 and a small operation Murray Feiss started in the South Bronx. His original idea was simple: import European porcelain figurines and wire them into lamp bases, with his mother Rose sewing every shade by hand. Three generations later that workshop had become one of America's best known decorative lighting houses, spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, and Concord itself is a direct descendant of the Colonial era American styling that first made the name.
