The Faro Noboru is a compact outdoor projector designed to wash walls, façades and garden features with a soft, even glow. Rather than throwing a harsh spot, its recessed light source and distinctive curved front shroud shield the eye from the LED itself, so you see the lit surface and not the glare. It is a neat, purposeful little fitting that does one job beautifully: turning a plain exterior wall into a wash of warm light after dark.

The dark grey finish

This version comes in a dark grey aluminium body, a muted anthracite tone that recedes against stone, render, brick and timber during the day and all but disappears once the light takes over at night. The cylindrical form is small and understated, roughly 150mm across and 177mm tall, with the sculpted hood curling over the aperture. It suits contemporary and pared back exteriors especially well, and the darker finish is a natural partner to modern grey render, slate and dark cladding. Sibling finishes are available if you need to match warmer or lighter surroundings.

How it works

Noboru uses an integrated COB LED, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace. It draws 16W and produces a warm white 3000K light, with a focused beam of around 36 degrees that lets you aim the wash where you want it. The fitting is surface mounted and hardwired to the mains, sitting against the wall or surface it lights. Because the LED module is built in, the whole unit works straight out of the box once wired.

Where it works best

This is an exterior fitting made for architectural lighting: grazing a garden boundary wall, highlighting a rendered façade, lifting a porch or entrance, or picking out planting and hard landscaping along a terrace or path. Used singly it creates a quiet focal point; run in a row it delivers a rhythmic, gallery like wash across a longer elevation. It is a good choice for anyone wanting to add depth and atmosphere to a garden, driveway or building frontage without visible glare.

• Rated IP65, meaning it is fully protected against dust and low pressure water jets from any direction, so it is suitable for open, unsheltered positions exposed to rain.

• Faro states an output of approximately 690 lumens with a colour rendering index above 80, and an IK08 impact rating.
