The fitting is wired to Class I electrical standards, requiring an earth connection as part of the installation.

Questions People Ask

Does the crystal sand glass filter the light or change its colour?
The textured surface scatters the light slightly, which softens its direction, but it doesn't filter or colour the light significantly. The apparent colour of the light is determined much more by the colour temperature of the bulbs you choose than by the frosted glass.

Is this fitting heavy enough to need special wall fixings?
At 3.4 kilograms, it's a decent weight, so you'll need fixings rated to that load. Your electrician will use appropriate wall anchors or timber battens depending on your wall type. It's not something to hang on standard picture hooks.

Would this work as a bedside light?
It's larger and more suited to kitchen and dining use, but if you want a minimal, contemporary look at the bedside, there's nothing preventing you from using it there. Just bear in mind that the 20W bulbs won't produce as much light as larger bedroom fittings.
